Sunrise Near the Pittsfield Preserve
New year, new project. What better way to start out than capturing a new day?
This winter is already shaping up to be a long, hard one, but it’s at least given us some of the best sunrises and sunsets we’ve seen in awhile. So if the silver lining on this winter cloud is fantastic sunrises, so be it. We’ll seize the sunrises and then head safely indoors for the rest of the day!
This is one of the remaining century-old barns in Pittsfield Township around the Pittsfield Preserve area. As Washtenaw county, and the Ann Arbor area in particular, becomes decidedly less rural, more and more of these structures fall into disrepair or are pulled down for development. It’s good to capture their everyday beauty and remember the importance they once had for life in this area.
Where is This?
Many old barns and structures are located all around the Pittsfield Preserve area. Though the Preserve is public land, the surrounding farms are private land, so be aware of where you can and can’t go without express permission.
